Wife. Mom. Romance Author. Fueled by coffee. (she/her)
K.L. Solauro
Hello and welcome to my world of romance! I am thrilled you stopped by!
As a working stay-at-home mom, my days are a blur of snuggles, emails, stories, calls, snacks, dinner, stories, bedtime, and repeat. Then, one night, I was lying in bed reminiscing on an event that had taken place nearly seven years prior. This memory sparked my creative wheels to turn, keeping me awake until the early morning hours. I wondered through a slew of “what if” scenarios regarding that one moment in time that led me to picking up the digital pen: What if I’d have said “no”? What if I’d have stayed? What if I’d have said “yes”? And those what ifs made me wonder…where would I be today? And in those trailing thoughts, the first two chapters of ELYSIUM were born, and the rest is history.
When I’m not losing myself in stories of romance and fantasy, you can find me binging campy dating shows with my husband, hosting private dance parties in my kitchen with my three daughters, or watching Jurassic Park or Titanic for the billionth time.
Author Q & A

As a mom to a 10-, 4-, and 2-year-old, I have lost an assortment of hobbies that filled my bucket (piano, video games, painting…) It’s just the season of life I’m in now, and I love my husband and my daughters more than anything. Being with them is the greatest joy of my life. But at this time, when everyone is in bed and I have a few hours to myself, writing is all I care to pour my heart into these days. And I am perfectly happy with that.

I developed a strange obsession with reading as many romance novels as I could get my hands on, when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I have always been drawn to romance, and am a sucker for a good spicy scene. But what truly got me inspired to write was when I finished the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas. I had never read a fantasy/romance before, and I read all five books within 2 months. The depth of the characters and their relationships, the world-building, the foreshadowing…I was hooked. And reading through the eyes of the main character made me realize my love for first-person writing, because I got to not only read the story, but experience it through her eyes. So I took that writing style and ran with it when it came time to craft my own story.

I wait until everyone in the house is asleep, and I stay up several hours later than I should, working on my stuff. But it’s fine, because coffee.
